Indigenous Ecological Knowledge and Celestial Objects

This module showcases the understanding that 'the sky is a reflection of the land' by exploring Indigenous Ecological Knowledge. Students will investigate how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples observe the stars and moon to understand plant and animal patterns and behaviours, highlighting the connection between Indigenous Ecological Knowledge and celestial objects. At the heart of this learning is the perspective that knowledge of the cosmos both reflects and informs relationships with Country.
